Mrs. Sarah Olivia Anderson, 74, widow of Edward F. Anderson, died at her home in Denton last Monday afternoon an illness of several weeks resulting from general debility. The funeral was held at the home on Thursday morning and interment was made in Denton cemetery. The Rev. E. C. Hallman, pastor of the M.E. Church, officiated, and the following neighbors were pallbearers: Willoughby Nowell, F. R. Owens, C. S. kauffman, K. W. Short, J. L. Everngam and S. G. Bye. Mrs. Anderson was a daughter of the late Thomas and mary Frances Melvin and was born at Melville, near Henderson. While still a school girl she removed with her parents to Denton and after completing the course provided by the local schools, she became a student at Millersville Normal School in Pennsylvania in preparation for her work as a public school teacher. She held positions in Caroline county, in Pennsylvania and in New Jersey. She returned to Denton to make her permanent home about thirty years ago. Beside her only child, Mrs. A. G. Croke, of Denton, a stepdaughter and a step-son survive: Mrs. H. C. Collison, of Burrsville, and RAy Anderson, of California. Miss Laura Melvin and Mrs. E. T. Tubbs, of Denton, are sisters of the deceased.
