Arthur Dean Adams, 79, was born Aug. 8, 1923 in the Fairview Community near Sparta, the son of Arthur Lee and Sarah Catherine (Anderson) Adams. He was reunited with them and his brothers Raymond and Roger on Friday, June 20, 2003. In 1941 Adams went to work as a chef for the Harvey House Restaurant in the Frisco Depot, Springfield. There he met Thelma Lorene Herd and they were married Nov. 24, 1945. Together they owned and operated several neighborhood restaurants in Springfield. In 1952 he became a police officer with the Springfield Police Department, and in Dec. 1961 he made the decision to return to his Christian County home and established Adams Funeral Home in Ozark. Adams was elected Christian County Coroner in 1972 and served 24 years until his retirement in 1996. He was a member of the Sparta First Baptist Church. Adams was a 50 year member of Gate of the Temple Lodge No. 422 AF & AM, Abou Ben Adhem Shrine Temple and all Masonic Bodies. Survivors include his wife, Thelma; four children, E. Dean Adams and wife Mary, Ozark, Terry Adams, Springfield, Jeff Adams and wife Andra, Ozark, and Valerie Adams, Ozark; three grandchildren, Sarah Orr and husband Mark, Arthur Dean Adams II, and Jesse Adams, all of Ozark; a great-granddaughter, Emily Orr; two sisters-in-law, Fonda Adams and Alma Adams, both of Ozark; nieces; nephews; cousins; and many friends. He was a devoted loving husband, dad, and papa. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. June 23 in Adams Funeral Home, Ozark.
