Death by Euthanasia. Nancy decided to end her own life after surgeries for cancer left her in constant extreme pain. Her death made headlines when it was revealed that she was cancer free at the time of her death leading many people to believe that she was well again. As euthanasia is illegal in Australia she had herself surrounded by 21 member of her family and friends to make it difficult for any prosecutor to lay charges against any one person for aiding her death. Nancy drank a 100ml solution of the drug nembutal to then end her life. A support group called Nancy's Friends has since been set up by Exit International in her memory. The group consists of trained volunteers who provide support and friendship to people who are considering to end their own life.
