Irene Beaulah Akers, 87, of Sanger, Texas, passed away Tuesday, June 19, 2007 in Denton. Irene was born on May 15, 1920 in Whitesboro to Percy E. and Fannie Mae (Moore) Parker. She married Frances Eugene "Buddy" Akers on July 16, 1938 in Era, Texas. Irene was a retired cosmetologist and was a member of Landmark Baptist Church of Sanger.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 21, 2007 at the Bolivar Cemetery, 4 miles west of Sanger on FM455, with Rev. Buddy Owens officiating. Visitation will be from 7 – 8 p.m., Wednesday, June 20, 2007 at Coker Funeral Home, 403 Pecan Street, Sanger, Texas.
Irene is survived by her husband, F. E. "Buddy" Akers of Sanger; daughters, Mary Jane Looper and Debbie Barber-Cross both of Sanger; son, Larry Akers of Bolivar; sister, Mary Lee Harvey of Sanger; five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; and one great great-grandchild. She is preceded in death by her great-grandson, Justin Cody Looper in 2006.
