Lee Logan Byers married first Urna Keating on September 18, 1923. They had one son, Lee Logan Byers, Jr. Sadly, Urna died in a car wreck in 1941 while in Kentucky. On June 16, 1944, he married a second time to Lou Ella Garrett, daughter of Weedie and Laverna Harmon Garrett, at Winona, Mississippi.

Lee was a First Sergeant during WWI. He graduated from the University of Mississippi and had worked for the Mississippi Highway Department in Sardis, Mississippi. He was a school teacher at Enid, Tallahatchie County, Mississippi for the 1930 census. He eventually got a job with the Internal Revenue Service at Greenwood, where he and Lou Ella made their first home. Son George was born when Lee was 53 years of age, in 1946.

Around 1953, Lee and Lou Ella moved to Oxford, Mississippi and opened an accounting business, "Byers Tax Service". Lou Ella's parents lived in their home in a "back apartment" for several years following the move.
