Alanis; spouse, Sylvia Arredondo Alanis; his children: Jennifer Medellin (Johnny), Jason Alanis; grandchildren: Tori, Jessenia, Evan, Noah, and Alyssa; the mother of his children, Elizabeth Ruiz; his siblings: Diana Sonnenschein (Rick) Andres Alanis, Jr. (Rose), Ernest Alanis (Josephine), Delva Alanis, Norma Garcia (Jerry), Dolly Garcia (Rene), Anna Cantu (Danny), Ronnie Alanis, Patsy Garza (Abel) and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Pallbearers: Rene Garcia, Abel Garza, Rick Sonnenschein, Danny Alanis, Sean Tooley, and Mark Garcia. Honorary pallbearers: Evan Medellin, Noah Medellin, Bryan Garza, Anthony Garza, Asiana Cantu, Jessenia Medellin.
Visitation and a rosary service were held on June 29, 2008 at Memory Gardens Funeral Home. A funeral mass was celebrated on June 30, 2008 at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church. Interment followed at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
