Jacob Blake Adams and his wife Helen (London) came to Longmont in a horse drawn covered wagon from PA and KS. They brought their infant son Forest Stanley but left two daugthers in a state operated broading school for children of disabled Civil War Veterans. Jacob & Helen arrived in the St Vrain Valley in the fall of 1881. He found work and living quaters at the old water powered Dickson Mill just east of Longmont. Their young son was accidently drown the mill's tailrace in 1882. After their son's death the girls Enna 14 and Metta 11, were brought to their new home.
Jacob, known as Blake, operated a farm near Longmont. He was also a successful honey producer.
