Mr. Batson was born Jan. 21, 1911 to William D. Batson and Willie R. Lawrence Batson in Camp Creek, Texas. Mr. Batson was a PFC in WWII, afterwards going to work at the Waco VA hospital where he met and married Mabel McCaslin on Sept. 3, 1947. They were blessed with one child, a son, Bobby Batson, born Jan. 24, 1949. Mr. Batson worked at the Waco VA for more than 25 years, and was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Waco. He was called home after a brief illness on April 5, 1977, at age 66.
