She was one of fourteen children born to Margaret Jane (Vallely) and James B. Rock, who were (married) immigrants from the townland of Cladybeg, County Armagh, Ireland to the U.S. in 1866, emigrating to Vermont. Two of her sisters died young: Ellen (1878-1880) and Sarah (1886-before 1900).

Margaret was the second wife of Washington Beede, a widower.

Margaret and "Wash" married late in life. She had been a nurse before becoming a chiropractic doctor. She was a longtime resident of Chelsea, Vermont. She was still driving a car, well into her nineties and lived to the age of 105 years 11 months.

[Note: her husband, who preceded her in death, was buried near his first wife, possibly in Tunbridge, Orange Co., Vermont.]
