His obituary in the Greensboro Record, dated October 28, 1971, provides that he was a native of Guilford County, and died of a heart attack at his residence in Greensboro on October 27, 1971.

He was an estimator for Brewer Paint & Wallpaper Company, and had served in the U.S. Army Infantry during the Korean Conflict. He was a graduate of Baylor Military Academy in Chattanooga, Tenn. and from Guilford College.

Surviving were his widow, the former Jobyna Smith; a son, George Bradley Batchelor, and a daughter, Christine Covington Batchelor of the home.
