Herbert Alexander Pappin was born 26 July 1897 in Pawhuska, Osage County, Oklahoma to Alexander Bluford Pappin and his wife, Myrtle Little wolf. Myrtle died on 25 April 1899, when Herbert was only 21 months of age. She was 18 years old at the time of her death. She is first buried in Jesse Creek Cemetery,she was later moved by Herbert to the Pawhuska City Cemetery .
Herbert married: Dica Jane Hilderbrand born 22 March 1900 in Indian Territory, she died 7 July 1990 in Los Angles, California. She was the daughter of James Hilderbrand (Osage) born April 1867 in Indian Territory and Jane McIntosh (Cherokee) born November 1872 in Indian Territory. She was married about 1919 to Herbert Pappin they divorced about 1923/1924. There were no children born to this union.
Herbert's second marriage was to: Lena "Leya" Sands was born 22 July 1906 in Oklahoma. She died in 1941 and is buried in the Pawhuska City Cemetery, Pawhuska,Osage County, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Robert Sands (Kaw) and Eva Hughes. They were married about 1924. There were two children born to this union: Evelyn Myrtle Pappin born 9 August 1925, she married Mr. Varten and they moved to Canada. Herbert A. Pappin Jr. Born 15 January 1931 in Oklahoma died 22 October 1980 Chesterfield County, Virgnia, he is buried in Sunset Memorial Park, Chester, Virginia. He married Anna Fitzgerald (1933-1987) they had two daughters Joyce and Susan Pappin. Leya and Herbert were divorced.
His third marriage was to: Ellen Faye Hall was born 11 March 1907 in Burbank, Oklahoma. She died
She was buried at the Pawhuska City Cemetery. Ellen was the daughter of Charles and Dora (Beck) Hall. She married Herbert Pappin on 8 November 1936 in Winfield, Kansas. Ellen and Herbert had one daughter: Angelene Dora Pappin born 26 April 1939 in Oklahoma, she died on 27 February 1940, she is buried in the Pawhuska City Cemetery. Herbert and Ellen were married for 31 years.
Herbert died on 9 December 1967 in Pawhuska, Osage County, Oklahoma. He is buried in the Pawhuska City Cemetery. Herbert was an original Osage Indian Allottee.
