68Y 4M, Born about 1803, James was the oldest of three brothers - Henry B., George and John that came to Ohio from Brownsville/Geneva, Pennsylvania sometime after his youngest brother was born in 1811. Some historical accounts mention that the Mother was a widow when the family came to the area of Ohio.
In 1817 at Ames, Athens County, Ohio his mother, known as Margaret Catherine Brawley, married William Donaldson.
James married Margaret Tibbles in 1830. They had one daughter, Margaret "Catharine", that married Jacob Stauffer in 1866, and a granddaughter named Effie was born in 1866. Their daughter, M. Catharine Stauffer died 16 Oct 1866. Although I have searched and searched for the granddaughter, I don't know if she lived to adulthood. The last I found her was at age 14 living with her widowed grandmother Margaret in Carthage, Athens, Ohio in 1880.
James and Margaret helped raise a niece and nephew, Margaret "Jennie" and George A. McCullum, two of several orphaned children of Margaret's sister, Amelia (Tibbles) and Archibald McCollum. Jennie married Edward H. Brawley, the son of Henry B. (brother of James) and lived into her 90's.
James also had a half brother fifteen years younger, William Donaldson Jr. William Jr. was born to Margaret Catherine and William Donaldson.
James, like his brothers were farmers. George was the only one that left Athens County and became a very successful farmer in Iowa. James was the Ames Trustee and Clerk in 1830.
