Son of Hiram R. and Annie (Boyd) Brown, who first came to Colorado in 1862. The parents settled in Denver, where Hiram A. was born, later moving to Arvada. Hiram A. then farmed this land. He later moved to Ralston Road, near town, where he lived out his life.

Hiram A. married Laura Allen on 6 Aug 1902. They had no children of their own, but adopted a son, Richard A. Brown.

News of his death was published in the Denver Post on 2 Aug 1940, p. 14D, and in the Arvada Enterprise on 1 Aug 1940, page 1. He died suddenly from a heart attack at his home at 620 Ralston Road.

Hiram is buried next to his wife in Lot 5 (who is buried with her parents in Lot 6), according to cemetery records.
