Merl Beach (ASN 32406322) enlisted in the Army on July 15, 1942 at Ft. Jay on Governor's island in New York City. He subsequently volunteered for parachutist.

After completing jump school at Ft. Benning, GA Merl was assigned to Company G in the 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment.

He jumped into Normandy on D-Day June 6, 1944 and was also in the jump into Holland on Sept 19. 1944. He fought in Belgium during the Battle of the Bulge from December 1944 to January 1945 as well.

During this period he was pronoted to Staff Sergeant and was also awarded the Bronze Star Medal.

Following WW-II he earned a commission (ASN O-0962891) in the National Guard and was in Korea as a 1st Lt. in the 7th Army Division when he was killed in action on January 7, 1952.
