She moved to Rangely in 1947 to work in the postoffice, was later appointed postmaster. The Gerrys were married in Meeker on December 31, 1948.
Her first husband, Fred A. Byers, died December 27, 1941. They had farmed in the Fruita area since 1915.
She was a member of the Fruita Methodist Church and a 65-year member of the Fruita Rebekah Lodge.
In Rangely, she attended the Baptist Church and was a member of the Order of Eastern Star.
Mrs. Gerry was born Minta Ethel White, November 18, 1897, in Fruita, a member of a pioneer family which settled in this area in 1886. She attended Rangely and Fruita schools and Colorado University at Boulder.
Surviving in addition to her husband are one daughter, Joyce E. Smith of Fruita; two sons, Leland J. Byers of Dillon and Gordon F. Byers of Rangely; three step-sons, Bruce Gerry of Green River, Wyoming, Clark Gerry of Lutchfield Park, Arizona, and Leonard Gerry of Paonia; one step-daughter, Mrs. Raymond White of Ogden, Utah; 27 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
