Longtime Gallatin Valley resident Harley D. Callantine of Box 194, Manhattan, died Monday in Bozeman Deaconess Hospital. He was 85.
He was born on March 2, 1892, in Pleasantville, Iowa, a son of Frank and Lanah Kamp Callantine.
He came to the Gallatin Valley when he was six months old. He received his education in the Gallatin County schools at Menard. He farmed in the Menard area, and worked for Harry Brainard for many years. He also worked for the Gallatin County Road Commission.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Goldie Boyts; a brother Ellis Callantine, and two sisters, Lola Rose and Effie Duvall.
He is survived by a son, C. F. Callantine of Harlowtown; a daughter, Mrs. Grace Barnes of Sacramento, Calif.; a brother, Oran Callantine, Manhattan; one half brother, Wallace Callantine; nine grandchildren, several great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Dokken-Nelson Sunset Chapel. Burial will be at Morgan Cemetery.
