Death of Mr. E. H. Abercrombie, an Old Citizen of Columbus.
The sad news has been received of the death of Mr. Everard H. Abercrombie, which occurred 1:30 o'clock Thursday afternoon at Aiken, S. C., at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. Mary Wood.
Mr. Abercrombie had been in ill health some time. He went from Columbus to Aiken several weeks ago, accompanied by his wife. He was ill when he went to Aiken and the improvement that been hoped for in his condition never came.
Mr. Abercrombie was seventy-five years of age, and was numbered among the oldest citizens of Columbus. He was born and reared in Russell county, Alabama, a few miles from the city, being a son of General Anderson Abercrombie. Most of his life was spent in Columbus.
He is survived by the following children: Mrs. Mary Wood, Mrs. Lou McCreary, Miss Helen Abercrombie and Mrs. James Abercrombie all of Aiken. S. C. He is survived by a brother, Mr. Wiley Abercrombie of New Smyrna, Fla., and two sisters, Mrs. Lou Berry, of Fla., and Mrs. James H Smith, Mrs. General French, of Florida, who died recently, was also his sister.
Mr. Abercrombie was a member of St. Luke church. He was well know over the city and his friends will be deeply saddened tolerant of his death.
The funeral and interment occurred at Aiken, at five o'clock Friday afternoon, the service being conducted by the Methodist minister there.
