Richard Aco was born to Raymond and Edna Aco on October 9, 1925 in Detroit, Michigan. Richard went to school in Chicago, Illinois and graduated from Senn High School. After school he entered the Merchant Marine and was a seaman for many years and then entered the U. S. Army in October 1953 and was honorably discharged in December 1954. He was a decorated war veteran. After serving his country he moved to Kansas City, Missouri and worked in the electrical field. He earned a degree from Central Technical Institute in 1959. In Kansas City he met the love of his life and soul mate, Shirley. Richard and Shirley were married on August 21, 1961. They moved to Oklahoma City in 1967 to help his father with his Mexican Restaurant and tortilla making business, Taco Palace. They later moved to Harrah, Oklahoma and founded Orbit Finer Foods in Choctaw, Oklahoma until they sold the business in 1991. After retiring from Orbit he and Shirley moved to Ajijic, Jalisco, Mexico until 2010 when they relocated due to health reasons. Richard was a Mason and held dual memberships in the Nicoma Park Masonic Lodge and the AJIJIC Lodge in Mexico. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Shirley. Richard was survived by his loving and devoted children; daughter Kim Cantrell and husband Jerry of Harrah; two sons, Rick Aco and wife Dolores of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Tony Aco and wife Hyuen of Choctaw; his loving granddaughters, Megan Bluhm and husband Dennis and Melissa Cantrell, all of Harrah. Richard had a passion for Jazz music and was an avid Oklahoma Sooner fan. Richard leaves many friends and admirers with the legacy of honesty and integrity! He taught people that a great work ethic can help you build whatever set forth. He built a business form a washtub of corn making tortillas to a leader in the tortilla & chip business in the United States. He will be missed by many! The family wishes to express their gratitude to Darlene and Patricia, Richard's special care givers. A Memorial service was held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, August 21, 2014, at Bill Eisenhour Northeast Chapel, NE 23rd Street, Oklahoma City. The family asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Shriner's Hospital in Richard's name.
