Richard W. Abram, 55, Altoona, died unexpectedly Saturday at his residence.

He was born in Altoona, son of the late Richard T. and Flemming (Myers) Abram.

Richard married Janis Kinney on Aug. 21, 1982, in Altoona.

Surviving are his wife; sons: Cory T. Abram, Cole J. Abram and Connor R. Abram; daughters: Heather M. Sprouse (Mark) and Jenna E. Abram, all of Altoona; one brother, Albert Abram of Bellwood; sisters: Bonnie Carothers of Altoona, Kathy Mittermeier (John) of Hollidaysburg, Lana Caputo of Crestview, Fla., and Debbie Burroughs (Mike) and Rebecca Strobert (John), all of Altoona; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, John Carothers.

Richard was a self-employed contractor and a 1976 graduate of Bishop Guilfoyle High School.

He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and a devoted member of the Cesare Battisti Club.

He enjoyed coaching basketball and fishing; he was a devoted Pitt fan; and loved spending time with his family and friends; and loved his little nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012, at The Stevens Mortuary, Inc., 1421 Eighth Ave., Altoona, where a vigil for the deceased will be held.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 21, 2012, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Altoona, with Monsignor Stanley Carson officiating. Committal at Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Rick Abram family.
