Cousin:

Dereke passed away at a very young age of 30 on Sept. 13, 1997. His services were held on Sept. 20, 1997.

Dereke was born on Jan. 5, 1967, in Montrose Colo. He then made a new life by moving to Denver and marrying Tina Miera, in 1990. Together they have a son Dereke, and a daughter Clarissa. Other family members are his Parents, Gilbert and Marie of Montrose, brothers Anthony and Joseph of Montrose, sisters Gilberta of Montrose, Tina Alvarado of Denver and grandmother Clara Martinez.

Dereke spent his childhood in West Covina Calif; and received his education in Colorado Springs, Colo., where he grew to adulthood. He had been employed as an account executive with New Mexico Distributing for the last six years of his life. Dereke was very dedicated to his career.

Mr Herrerea's greatest love and joy in life was wife, children and family. One of his favorite hobbies he greatly enjoyed was the restoration of classic cars. He also enjoyed music and golfing. Mr Herrera treasured the times he could come to Montrose and visit his uncles and enjoy the splendor of the mountains. He was a perfectionist and made sure everything he took interest in was done to the best, such as appearance, cars, home, and yard.

Dereke was very close to all of us. Everything was going good for him and his family. He was so proud of his family and his accomplishments. Dereke was always so respectful to everyone. He also was a very kind and loving husband and father. Dereke provided a beautiful home to his family which he cherished with all his heart. You could always find him outside working on his yard. He always had a smile on his face, playing with his kids, running back and forth with them. Dereke will always be loved and remembered.
