Fourth of ten children born to Adam and Elizabeth (Deines) Lungren. Married William S. Barnes on November 4, 1941. They had two children.

Billings Gazette (Billings, MT, Tuesday, December 11, 1973:

"WORLAND, Wyo. - Mrs. Alvena H. Barnes, 53, of Palo Alto, Calif., formerly of Worland, died of cancer in California. She was born Nov. 20, 1920, in Nisland, S.D., the daughter of Adam and Elizabeth Lungren. She married William S. Barnes on Nov. 4, 1941, in Worland.

Mrs. Barnes came to Worland with her parents and attended local schools, graduating from Worland high school. Following her marriage she and her husband moved to San Francisco and later to Palo Alto.

Survivors include a son, Vincent Scott Barnes of Fullerton, Calif., a daughter, Mrs. Robert Greene of Palo Alto; three brothers, Ruben and Lloyd Lungren, both of Worland, and Victor Lungren of Cheyenne; six sisters, Mrs. Marvin Fritz, Mrs. John Schueuerman, Mrs. Jack Stine and Mrs. Jerry Geis, all of Worland; Mrs. Roy Schaff of Riverton and Mrs. Bruce Perryman of Glasgow, Mont., and two grandchildren.

Services were held Saturday at the Worland LDS church with Bishop Evan Morrison officiating. Burial was in Riverview Memorial Gardens."
