Born at Newark, NY and after attending private schools he attended Genesee College for one year. He than moved to Chicago, IL to work in his brother's pharmacy. When the Civil War began he enlisted in Company C, 51st Illinois Infantry. He participated in the battles of Stone River, Corinth and Murphreesboro and was mustered out as a Sergeant.

After the war, he returned to Genesee College and graduated in 1866. He also graguated from Hahnemann Medical Colege of Chicago (1869) and the Bellevue Hospital Medical College (1870). For a time he entered into a partnership with his brother, Dr. Gaylord Beebe, in Chicago. He was professor of Surgery at Hahnemann Medical College, founded the Chicago Homeopathic Medical College. In 1897 he was appointed attending surgeon at Cook County Hospital.

Dr. Beebe married Frances Lucy Northway at Horseheads, NY on March 3, 1870. The had two children, Dr. Leslie Walter Beebe and Clara Margery Beebe Rickords. He died in Chicago on December 4, 1903. His remains were returned to Wayne County, NY and buried in the same cemetery as his parents.
