Soprano. Sister-In-Law of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. At an early age her family moved to Mannheim, and it was while living there, in 1777, that she first met the young Mozart, who was traveling through the country in search of employment. They formed a relationship, the extent of which remains uncertain, yet he did claim his desire to marry her. After he left for Paris the relationship seems to have cooled and by 1780 she was living in Munich, where, on October 31, she married fellow performer Joseph Lange. Mozart himself moved to Vienna in 1781, and would fall in love with Aloysia's younger sister, Constanze. The two married in 1782 and Mozart became Aloysia's brother-in-law. Their somewhat strained relationship survived and grew to friendship. Over the next few years Mozart wrote several pieces for her, including "Alcandro, lo confesso", "Popoli di Tessaglia!", "Nehmt meinen Dank, ihr holden Gönner!", "Mia speranza adorata – Ah, non sai, qual pena", "Vorrei spiegarvi, oh Dio!" "No, no, che non sei capace", and "Ah se in ciel". She also performed the role of Donna Anna in Don Giovanni at the Vienna premiere on May 7, 1788. During her career she also performed at the Burgtheater and the Kärntnertortheater. In 1795 her marriage with Lange broke up. She eventually retired to Salzburg to be closer to her sisters Constanze and Sophie.
