Emzley Christopher Allred was born February 6, 1870 in Plant, Arkansas (VanBuren County), son of Samuel Newton Allred (1842-1889) and Nancy Ann Denton (1849-1930). Emzley was the eldest of 10 children. His siblings were: William A., Mary E., George Washington, Martha, Mahala, Febie Lucresa, Samuel Garfield, John Thomas, and Benjamin Harrison.

On March 25, 1894, in Van Buren, Arkansas, Emzley married Susan Alabama "Allie" Martin, who was born November 2, 1873, in Arkansas. Emzley and Allie had seven children: Cordelia, Newton A., William Hubert, Clayton O., Ola, George Dewey, and Chester.

Emzley, a farmer, and Allie spent their entire married life living in Van Buren County, Arkansas, until 1930 at which time they were living in Stratford, Oklahoma (Garvin County). They were renting a farm in Stratford. The household included: Ema C, age 63, born in Arkansas, married at age 26; Sam, wife, age 59, born in Arkansas, married at age 22; Chester, their son, age 19, born in Arkansas; Dewey, their son, age 24, born in Arkansas, married at age 24; and Emma, Dewey's wife, age 26, born in Oklahoma, married at age 26.

Emzley died December 8, 1943, in Lexington, Oklahoma (Cleveland County) and was buried there in the Lexington Cemetery. Allie died January 12, 1947, in Pulaski, Arkansas and was buried beside her husband.
