Born at Nebraska City, Nebraska. When a child, the Smith family moved to Yankton, S. D. In 1904 she moved to Sioux City, Iowa, making her home there until moving to Grand Island, Nebraska in 1943.
She married her first husband, Irvin B. Reid at Dakota City, Nebraska, on August 17, 1934. Survivors included her second husband; a son, Albert Ackerman; two brothers and a half-sister. She was preceded in death by one daughter and her parents.
