Frank Meriweather is my great-grandfather. He is the father of my Grandmother Frances Beatrice Blackmon. I don't know if my Great Grandfather had a close relationship with my grandma. So much I don't know. However, I do know he is the father of my Great Aunt Delilah and my Grandma Bea. He died in 1941 in, So my mother (she was born in 1948) has no clue of who he was. My Grandmother never talked about him. In those days, certain things you did not talk about. As in the reason my Grandmother changed her name from Donia to Frances Beatrice. My Great Aunt Delilah kept her name, she is named after My Great Grandfather's mama. Her named-Delilah Kelley Meriweather. The rest of my great grandmother kids, it has to over 10 last name is Jackson. In those days you could put whatever on the birth ceritificates. Great Grandma Jackson-Colemans, I suspect was allot older. The same goes for my Grandma Bea. My mom told me today now she remembers that at my grandma Bea's funeral Aunt Deliah (her only full sister) said "That's not Donia's birtdhay. She still called her by her origingal name "Donia" or "Donie"
I'm finding out truth is stranger than fiction. Too many things don't add up. However, It was a different time back then. As children NEVER asked questions to you Mama or Grandma. So many family secrets. So even if Mr Meriweather was not apart of her life, I will still pay my respects.
