My Great Grandmother Ada Coleman Jackson (on my mother side). Her nickname was "Mama Cook" Don't know much else. Her husband Boe Jackson died young and left her with "I think" 8 kids to raise. However, I'm finding out that truth is stranger than fiction. She was allot older, don't think she was born in 1904. Known fact in the family....no one likes to talk about it. I guess in those days you could put whatever on a death certificate. I guess because babies were born at home. I also learn that my Grandma Bea (her daughter). Is allot older than what is listed on her death certificate. My mom told me today, that she remembers at the funeral for Grandma Bea, Aunt Delilah (her only full sister) said that is not Donia's or Donie's (Delilah never called her Frances) birthdate. I will try to sort through all of this. My mom does have the family bible that belonged to my Great Grandma Ada Coleman-Jackson. It has the names of all her children written in it. I have never seen it. I'm very interested in seeing it now. I'm glad my mom has it. My Great -Grandmother gave it to her oldest daughter my Grandma Bea, since she was the oldest sibling. The circle of life does not go as planned. I know all to well. Parents are not supposed to bury their children. My Grandma Bea passed 10 March 1975 and her mother (My Great Grandmother Ada Coleman Jackson) passed 5 March 1976. So with that being said, the "other sisters" may have taken photo albums and other stuff. However, my mom has The family bible. She needed it during those stressful years of losing both of her parents within 6 months apart. So maybe all is not lost...to be continued.
