Waterman's presence in Greenwood Cemetery is known only through cemetery records which show his burial there on 1 Feb 1897.

Date and place of death are from the New York Death Index, 1852-1956. Cemetery records indicate that he was 92 years old at the time of his death. This suggests that he was born about 1805. That date of birth agrees with various census records.

Cemetery records indicate that Waterman is buried in Section A, Lot 11, 12' from South. Section A, Lot 11, is owned by the Town of Wilson. Waterman is the only person shown in the remaining cemetery records (which begin in 1891) to be buried on that lot, and there is only one visible marker on it, that of Helen (Doud) Hand. However, Section B, Lot 11, was owned by Waterman Adams, and members of his family are shown in cemetery records and on the one remaining marker to be buried on that lot. Section B, Lot 9, which is located adjacent to, and south of, Lot 11, was owned by Samuel Robinson, the father of Waterman's wife, Polly Robinson. There is presently no marker for Waterman in either Section A or Section B, and no marker for him was found during the cemetery reading conducted for those sections in 1989 and 1900. It appears highly probable that Waterman is actually buried in Section B, Lot 11. However, it is not possible at this time to say exactly where he is buried.

Polly (Robinson) Adams ---

Polly was Waterman's wife, and the daughter of Samuel and Anna Robinson. From various censuses, Polly was born about 1803 in USA, VT. She was living for the 1880 US census, but is not shown in the 1892 New York State census. This suggests that she died in or between 1880 and 1892. The New York Death Index, 1852-1956, shows the death of Polly Adams in USA, NY, Niagara, Wilson, on 24 Mar 1886. To date, no burial place has been found for her either in Greenwood or another cemetery. The fact that she is not shown in Greenwood Cemetery records is not conclusive proof that she is not buried there because she died before the oldest remaining cemetery records begin. No marker for her was found in the cemetery during a reading of Section B in 1989. This is the section in which her husband owned a lot next to the lot owned by her parents, and is therefore the most likely Section in which she would have been buried. Also, no marker was found for her when the entire cemetery was photographed in the summer of 2015. Again, this is not conclusive proof that she is not buried there, as there are many missing markers in Greenwood - some may be covered with sod, some broken, and others over the bank going down to Twelve-Mile Creek.

George Waterman Adams ---

Waterman and Polly had, among other children, a son, George Waterman Adams. George was born about 1839 in USA, NY, Niagara. He married Mary Jane Crane, and the couple had at least four children: Charles F, Dan W, Jennie B, and George W.

George (Sr) was living with his parents and his wife and family in USA, NY, Niagara, Wilson, for the 1870 US census. In the 1875 New York State census, Mary is still living with her in-laws and children, but is shown as a widow. This suggests that George died between in or between 1870 and 1875, and most likely after 1872, because his youngest child, George W, was born about 1873.

George's burial place has not been located. In all probability, he is buried on his father's lot - Section B, Lot 11 - in Greenwood Cemetery. However, as with his mother, he died before the oldest remaining records for Greenwood begin, and no marker for him has been found in the cemetery. Therefore, it is not possible to say conclusively that he is buried there.
