Charles E. Cowdrey, 77, passed away at his home January 18, 2011 with his wife Nancy and family by his side. Memorial celebration will be held Saturday February 5, 2011, 10:30am, at the First United Methodist Church in Winfield, KS. Following the service a reception will be held for friends and family at Fellowship Hall at the church.
Charlie was born in Camden Point, MO. On November 16, 1933. His parents were Charles and Muriel (Duncan) Cowdrey. He graduated from Gower, MO High School and received his undergraduate degree from Northwest Missouri State University and completed his masters degree from the University of Missouri in Columbia,
Charlie coached Football for Thirty-Eight years at the high school, community college and University level. He developed many lifelong memories and friendships with athletes and coaches during his career,
He is survived by: wife, Nancy (Bruce) Cowdrey of the home; son, Bruce and wife Melody of Dunlap, Ill; daughters, Paula Cowdrey of Bloomington, Ill and Paige Perrigo and husband Brian of Winfield, grandchildren Tyler and Morgan Cirks of Winfield; sister, Millis Frisch and husband Peter of Windsor, CA; Nephews, Jason Morris of Hawaii, Josh Morris of Washington; Aunt, Francis Thorla of Manhattan, KS; Cousins, Sharon Hobbs husband Brian of Manhattan, Joyce Transmeier of Grayson, MO. Preceded in death by father Charles and mother Muriel step-mother Mary Cowdrey.
