Funeral services were held at 11 o'clock Sunday morning for J. W. Thomas, 67 year old Cherokee county farmer, who died beneath the wheels of a southbound Frisco passenger train early Saturday night.
Railroad officials who investigated the case said that Thomas had evidently been lying across the tracks and was struck without warning, The accident happened less than a mile from the Tahlequah depot.
Thomas' body was so badly mangled that identification was impossible for several hours. He is survived by his widow, nine sons and two daughters.
Services were conducted in the Reed-Oliver funeral chapel with Reverend Draper officiating. Interment was made in the city cemetery.
