─═════════ ✿ڰۣڿ✿ Biography ✿ڰۣڿ✿ ═════════─

Edmond Allgood was born on Thursday, 21 August 1845, in Kentucky. His father, Phillip, was 25 and his mother, Hannah, was 20.

When the Civil War began, Edmond was living in Boyle County, Kentucky. He lived in the area throughout his childhood. The war hit close to home when, in October 1862, the Battle of Chaplin Hills was fought in Perryville, Kentucky. The battle took place in the very county where Edmond and his family were living.

Within 15 months of the Battle of Chaplin Hills, Edmond would join military forces at the age of 18. He joined the Union Army on 5 January 1864, in Salem, Indiana. By the time he was discharged, Edmond had made the rank of Corporal. The war was over on 9 May 1865. It's unclear if Edmond returned to Kentucky before moving to Indiana, but he was living in Indiana by November 1867.

At the age of 22, Edmond married 20-year-old Mary Adams. They were married on 23 November 1867, in Washington County, Indiana. Their marriage record is located in Book H, Page 32 of the Index to Marriage Records 1850-1920.

Edmond and Mary began their family immediately. Their first child, John, was born on 17 August 1868, in Washington County, Indiana. Another son, Rufus, would follow on 9 July 1870. Rufus was also born in Washington County. At the age of 26, Edmond would welcome his first daughter, Alice, who was born on 16 July 1872. Edmond and Mary would have five more children after Alice. They were: Dovie, born 22 April 1874; Charles, born 21 September 1877; Eva, born 4 September 1880; a son, Ora, born 29 July 1883 and Elizabeth, born 26 May 1886. By the time of Eva's birth in 1880, the family was living in Bloomington, Monroe County, Indiana.

In the midst the many happy times of seeing his children grow up, get married, and have children of their own, Edmond would also see times of sorrow. On 14 November 1889, his beloved wife of 21 years passed away. Mary was just 42 years old at the time of her passing. She died of Typhoid Fever. This horrible disease would also claim the lives of two of his daughters. Dovie, at the age of 20, died on 19 August 1894 and Alice, at the age of 24, died on 31 October 1896.

Less than five years after the death of his wife, Mary, Edmond would find love again. He married Lillie Frances Tillman on 16 March 1894, in Bloomington, Indiana. At the time of their marriage Edmond was 48 years old and Lillie was 23. They remained in Bloomington for their entire marriage.

Death would strike again, this time claiming Lillie. Lillie died on 7 March 1905, at the age of 34. They had been married ten years. Edmond would never marry again.

Edmond lived the remainder of his life in Monroe County. He died on Monday, 13 December 1920, at the age of 75. He is buried in Rose Hill Cemetery.
