Lavina Isabel Bausman, daughter of James and Catherine Hartle, was born in Miami County, Ohio, July 3, 1856, and passed away at her home in Bradford on February 15, 1936, at the age of 79 yrs., 7 mo. and 12 da. Mrs. Bausman suffered a stroke of paralysis when she arose to fix her fires at an early hour. About five hours later she was found by neighbors who broke into her home and found her lying on the floor. She had suffered extremely from exposure from which she developed pneumonia, terminating in her death a few days later. She was the second of a family of nine children. On October 19, 1879, she was married to David Maurer, and for a number of years they conducted the Maurer Grocery known as Number 17. Mr. Maurer was called home on January 6, 1910. Again she was married to Daniel Bausman on December 24, 1912. They lived together at their home on the Union City Pike until his death on May 31, 1929. Soon after this loss she moved to Bradford where she lived till the Lord called her home. Though never blessed with children, she was always interested in their welfare and she and her companion gave much to the church and her interests. She leaves to mourn her going two brothers, Calvin on the old farm and Frank of Covington, a number of nieces and nephews, and many friends. Burial will be made in the Harris Creek Cemetery.
