Fred passed away at 6:23 p.m., on Monday, August 4, 2014, in St. Vincent's hospital, Indianapolis.
He was the son of Fred and Nina Belle (Jones) Rombold.
On June 3, 1967, in St. Vincent de Paul Church in Logansport, he married Susan A. Moore, who preceded him in death on August 11, 2001.
Fred was a retired driver for the Logansport State Hospital. Following retirement he drove for Cass Area Transit for several years.
He served in the Army National Guard.
A member of All Saints Catholic Church, Fred was a former Democratic City Councilman from 2004 to 2008. He was a fan of Jeff Gordon, NASCAR and the Chicago Cubs. He also enjoyed playing pool.
The Rombold family had been nominated for Family of the Year in 2000 by Indiana Special Olympics.
Surviving are a son, Pat Rombold; Daughters Shari Rombold and Jennifer Rombold, all of Logansport; and several nieces and nephews.
Also preceding in death were a son, Eric Lee Rombold; sister, Dorothy Titus; step-sister, Louise Laughner; and two step-brothers, Paul Vail and Bill Vail.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 8, 2014, at All Saints Catholic church, with Fr. Mike McKinney officiating.
Visitation will be from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, August 7, 2014 and 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. on Friday, August 8, 2014, at Kroeger Funeral Home. A Scripture Service will be conducted at the funeral home at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, with Fr. Dominic Petan officiating.
Fred requested that men please refrain from wearing neckties for the visitation and funeral.
Burial will be in the Mount Calvary section of Mount Hope Cemetery.
