According to the Dental Register Dr. Climenson received his diploma in 1883, but makes no mention of which university.

His father, Benjamin Climenson, was also a dentist who dabbled in photography as a daguerreotypist. The senior Climenson was an 1869 graduate of Pennsylvania College of Dental Surgery with a previous preceptorship under Dr. W.R. White and a theses on The Use of Base Metals in Dentistry.

William Climenson's mother was Sarah Lewis Climenson. He married Sophia Bert.
