"EARTH HAS NO SORROWS THAT HEAVEN CANNOT HEAL"

This is my sister Janet (Jan). She actually wrote her own memorial which I am posting here. Janet Lea Entwistle was born on June 3, 1943, in Oklahoma City to James Xavier and Maxine Swift Entwistle. As her father was a career military man, she spent her early years traveling the United States as well as living in Japan and Morocco. She attended a total of 13 grade schools. She spent grades 7-9 in Midwest City, OK. Her high school years were divided between Thomas H. Wilhoit HS in Morocco and Midwest City HS in Oklahoma, graduating in 1961. Following this, she attended Oklahoma State University. She received her Bachelor of Arts in history in 1965 and her Master of Arts in 1969.
In 1967, she began her teaching career at the newly opened Sooner High School in Bartlesville, OK. In 1976, she moved to College High School and later the two schools were merged to form Bartlesville HS. She continued to teach until retirement in 1999. During her 32 year teaching career, she sponsored many student activities such as Future Teachers of America, Student Council and the Close Up Program which enables students to go to Oklahoma City and Washington, D.C. to observe government activities first hand. She also sponsored students on two trips to Europe. Although she retired in 1999, she continued involvement in the Oklahoma Close UP Program and substitute teaching in Bartlesville schools until 2008.
She was a member of Oak Park Methodist Church, serving on the Missions Committee and as the committee's representative on the Board of Directors for CONCERN. She was Secretary for Oak Park's administrative council for several years and also participated in the Singles Group of the church.
Survivors include one brother, Gary Lynn Entwistle and his wife Judith and their children Michael (Melissa), Christian, and Ted (Amanda); one sister, Sharon Gammell and her husband Jeff and their children Jennifer and Michael; several great nephews and nieces. In addition, she is survived by her special cousin-friend Judy Smith of Fairfield, California.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Aden and Velma (DeVall) Swift, her paternal grandparents Harry and Anna (Driscoll) Entwistle, a beloved uncle Charles Aden Swift, and her parents. She also is going to be greeted at the Rainbow Bridge by many of her beloved cats. Memorials in her memory can be made to the Animal Rescue Foundation or to the Endowment Fund of Oak Park United Methodist Church, Bartlesville.
Janet lived and died an Okie and a die hard Oklahoma State Cowboy. She moved to Texas kicking and screaming, and she always said that if I buried her in Texas, she'd haunt me. Well, hauntings are always to be avoided whenever possible, so Janet is finally home in Oklahoma at Hillcrest Memory Gardens. We had a small memorial service celebrating her life on July 23, 2016.

Cause of death: A series of strokes following surgery for a broken hip suffered from a fall.

If Roses grow in Heaven, Lord,
please pick a bunch for me,
Place them in my Sister's arms
and tell her they're from me.

Tell her, I love her and I miss her,
and when she turns to smile,
place a kiss upon her cheek
and hold her for awhile.

Remembering her is easy,
I do it every day,
but there's an ache within my heart
that will never go away.
