She was an active participant in the Civil Rights Movement in the 1960s, attending the March On Washington, DC in 1963. In Savannah, she was a member of Central Baptist Church (Hitch Village) and Townsley Chapel AME Church.
She was later an active member of Open Bible Baptist Church in Williamstown, New Jersey, for over 30 years. She retired from Victory Christian School in Williamstown after teaching there for over 19 years.
Inez was the beloved wife of David R. Costin, Sr. In addition she was the devoted mother of David "Randy" Costin, Jr. (Stacey), Dexter Costin (Lisa), Derek Costin, and Dan Costin (Karie).
She was the loving daughter of Benjamin West, Sr. and the late Rosa Lee West; dear sister of Arthur Johnson, Freddie West, Leroy West, Barbara West-Brown, Anthony West, the late Benjamin West, Jr. and the late Clara West.
She was the devoted grandmother of Kayla, Kiyah, Kenya, Keisha, Ben, James and West.
Funeral services were held in Williamstown, New Jersey, on May 5, 2010, at Open Bible Baptist Church, with Rev. George Riddell, III, officiating.
A memorial service was held at Townsley Chapel AME Church in Savannah, Georgia, Rev. Joseph Baker, Pastor, on May 15, 2010.
