Thomas was born in Springfield, on July 19, 1925 to Joseph A. and Helen (Ciccarelli) Gentile. He was a lifelong resident of Springfield, and was a communicant of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, and a member of the Italian American War Veterans Sisto Lombardi Post #64 in East Longmeadow. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Thomas worked for Hamilton Standard, now United Technology for 35 years, retiring in 1987. For many years Tom was an avid golfer and played many, many rounds with his son, Nicky. Tom was a loving husband, devoted father and grandfather, a brother who could always be counted on, and a good friend to many. Thomas leaves his beloved wife of 62 years, Julia (Gorecki) Gentile, his sons, Nicholas 'Nicky' Gentile and his wife Kathy of Lanesborough, MA and Gary T. Gentile of North Kingston, RI, his brothers, Frank Gentile and his wife Sandy of Feeding Hills and Robert Gentile and his wife Maureen of East Longmeadow, his sister-in-law Isabelle Gentile of Springfield and his cherished granddaughter, Angela Gentile of Boston. He was predeceased by his brother Albert Gentile.
