He was a veteran, a former oil pipeline worker, an electrician for Crane Creek mine, and later, an equipment operator.
His loved ones called him Richard. Left to mourn him are his wife, stepchildren and grandchildren, daughters in law, nieces, nephews, neighbors, & everyone who ever knew him. His grandsons courageously served as his pallbearers.
The kindest and most humane man one could hope to meet, no one ever went cold or hungry if Barrett heard someone needed help. He was a resident of Sandlick for many years.
Richard was always affectionate and fun loving, to the delight of all little children. Any child could call him PawPaw, no matter who its parents were, he suffered sticky hands & faces smearing him with hugs. He was a hero to many little people. He would sometimes play his guitar and sing for them, a favorite treat - or could be begged into dancing; seeing him jitterbugging was better than any movie. For older children, he was steadfast, helpful, inspiring, and indispensable. Many men are remembered for their work in a profession, this one worked very hard but will be remembered for the love he put into every single day. The love is all the more remarkable because he had not one biological child.

Eternal gratitude to his home nurse, a kind and loving person in her own right, for every thing she did for him.
