Alan K. Arrowsmith, 60, died at 11:11 a.m. Monday, August 17, 2009 at his home.

Born February 7, 1949 in Urbana, IL, he was the son of Kathleen (Tabor) Arrowsmith of Alton, and the late Richard Arrowsmith. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was a former member of the Curdie Heights Baptist Church. He was a fork lift operator for Mead Packaging in Godfrey for over 20 years. He is survived by his mother, Kathleen, his son, Jason L. Arrowsmith, a sister, Kathy Nickle and her husband Frank of Godfrey, two nieces, Samantha and Amanda Nickle both of Godfrey, his uncle, Walter Tabor and his wife Irene, two aunts, Mary Ainscough, and Helen Patton all of Centralia, and numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by his father and his step-son, Michael Sandbach.

Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Calvary Baptist Church in Alton. Burial will be at 3:00 p.m. at Deadmond Cemetery in Odin, IL. Reverend Andre' Dobson will officiate. Memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church. Gent Funeral Home in Alton is in charge of arrangements.
