Demarius is spelled Demaris on her grave stone. Buried next to her son and daughter-in-law Daniel F. and Mahala Budd. Story goes that Demarius rode a horse in The Cherokee Strip Land Run of 1893, staked her claim and lived there alone for two years fighting off desperadoes. In the Spring of 1895 her son Daniel F. Budd along with his wife Mahala and his three children moved down from Indiana to help Demarius. The 1900 Oklahoma Census shows last husband George Bush living with Demarius in Jordan Valley Township, Pawnee Co., Oklahoma.
