Pfc Raymond O. Hopp was a soldier in Company K of the 179th Infantry Regiment 45th Infantry Division. He was killed in Sicily on 14 July 1943. Pfc Hopp was fist buried in the small American cemetery at Comiso airfield on 16 July 1943.

Pfc Hopp was reburied in the temporary American GELA Cemetery in grave F-70-834. Date of burial in the Gela Cemetery was probably 12 August 1943After the war his remains were repatriated and buried in the Morton City Cemetery in Morton, Minnesota.

Over 1,200 men and women were buried in the GELA Cemetery between July 1943 and 1947; after the war they were reburied in one of the European cemeteries operated by the American Battle Monuments Commission or repatriated and buried in the States.
