Mrs. Aalberts dies here after long illness
Funeral services for Mrs. Garrett W. Aalberts were held Monday, June 4, 1956, at the Trinity Reformed church, with Rev. C. Boonstra officiating.
Janet Van Veldhuizen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Van Veldhuizen was born. October 2, 1903 on a farm near Newkirk. She married Garrett W. Aalerts on February 12, 1925. To this union seven children were born. Wilma Jean, (Mrs. Bill Vande Brake) of Orange City; John Dale of West Covina, Calif.; Irwin Richard of Orange City; Kenneth Lee serving in the Navy; Betty Lou, Arlene Mae, and Beverly Jane, who are at home.
She died May 31, 1956, at the Grossmann hospital where she had been in failing health for the
past two years. She was 52 years, 7 months, and 28 days of age.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Mrs. H.J .Van Veldhuizen, on January 9, 1922, two sisters, (Frances) Mrs. Gt. Kleinhesselink on April 6, 1943 (Henrietta) Mrs. Melvin Harman on April 16, 1944, and one brother Henry on August 23, 1953.
Surviving her are her husband Garrett W. Aalberts of Orange City and their children and seven grandchildren; also her father, H. J. Van Veldhuizen of Boyden, one brother, Jack of Sioux Falls, and two sisters (Elizabeth) Mrs. Joe Van Velzen and (Minnie) Mrs. Bob Dethmers, both of Boyden. Pallbearers were six nephews, Wm. Van Veldhuizen, Bernard Huizinga, Thomas Even, Leon Aalberts, Henry Van Velzen and Clarence Van Velzen. Burial was made in the Orange City cemetery.
Coming from a distance were her sons, John D. Aalberts of West Covina, Calif., and Kenneth Lee Aalberts in military service. Also Mr. and Mrs. E. J Aalberts and sons of Iowa Falls, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Van Veldhuizen of Sioux Falls, Mr. and Mrs Joe Ten Have and sons of Woodstock, Minn., and Mr. and Mrs Jake Abma of Michigan.
