Walter A. Small, 69, Times Apts., Carlisle St., pressman for the Gettysburg Times for 40 years, died this morning at 7:25 o'clock in the Warner Hospital where he had been admitted as a patient two and a half weeks ago.

Death was due to a complication of diseases. He had been in failing health for several months.

Lived here for 41 years.

A resident of Gettysburg for the last 41 years, he became a regular employee of the Gettysburg Times in 1916 and since that time until his retirement had served as pressman. He operated for 36 years the old flatbed press that turned out the daily edition of the Times until the fall of 1952 when the present Duplex tubular press went into use with one of Mr. Small's sons, Thomas, as the pressman.

From 1952 until his retirement last year, "Walt" assisted in the sterotyping department and helped with the press work.
