John Louis Hoorman Jr. 79, beloved husband of Ann Graves Hoorman, entered rest on April 12, 2012 at Pepperhill Nursing Home in Aiken, SC.

A native of New Orleans, La., Mr. Hoorman was a son of the late John Sr. and Gladys LaBorde Hoorman. He was a retired well decorated police officer from New Orleans Police Departmant. He was awarded the Medal of Valor in 1974. During the 1980's Mr. Hoorman was the Chief of Police for the Jackson Police Department in Jackson, SC. He was employed by the Aiken County School District from 1991 to 2007.

He leaves behind his wife, Ann Graves Hoorman of Aiken, SC and 5 children, Patrick Gerald Hoorman of Olive Branch, MS; Michael John Hoorman of Gonzales, LA.; Leigh Ann Callahan of Lancaster, SC; Allyson Callahan of Evans, GA; and Anna Callahan of Aiken, SC.; 13 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; and a brother, Daryl G. Hoorman of LaPlace, LA. Mr. Hoorman was preceeded in death by his parents and his son, Charles Michael Calahan of Forest Lawn SC.

A Requiem Mass was celebrated on April 16, 2012 at the St. Mary Help of Christian's Catholic Church in Aiken, SC.
Visitation was held at the Shellhouse-Rivers Funeral Home in Aiken, SC.
