Gilberta Ashdown passed away 8/9/2016 in hospice care. She was born 11/27/1920 to Bessie and M. Guy DeVore in Linden, Iowa. She is preceded in death by sisters, Irene Merrill and Merle Myers, daughter Iona Maring and grandchildren Sheri Carson and Daniel Tesla. She leaves behind daughters Kaylene Ackerland of Sarasota, FL, Donna Tesla of Lake Dallas, TX, and Barbara Rieck of Dickenson, TX.
Gilberta DeVore was married to Albert Ashdown from 1939-1961. She married LaVerne Natwick in 1962 and married Ted (Wayne) Montgomery in 1968.
She worked at the East Moline State Hospital from 1962 until 1979 and then Moline Public Hospital as a Nurses Aide. She enjoyed taking care of people.
Gilberta enjoyed gardening, preserving food, sewing, camping, boating and anything with her family. She has resided for the past many years with her daughter, Donna Tesla of Lake Dallas, TX.
Gilberta made friends everywhere she went and will be greatly missed.
