Lifelong Grays Harbor resident, Carol Ann Berglund, passed-away Wednesday, June 16, 2010 in Hoquiam. She was 80. Carol was born June 15, 1930 in Elma to Irvin Ernest and Donna May Carroll Lindley. Carol grew up in Elma and is a graduate of Elma High School's Class of 1948. Carol went to work in the banking industry right out of high school. She began working for National Bank of Commerce in Elma in 1948. Carol worked at Grays Harbor Community Hospital for eight years in the hospital lab. She later worked at Harbor Security and Timberland Bank in Montesano until her retirement from Timberland in 1999. Carol married Thomas Andrew Berglund, at the Elma Presbyterian Church on February 14, 1950. Tom survives Carol at the family home in Montesano after 60-years of marriage. Carol enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, knitting, crocheting and quilting. She loved cooking, shopping and going to the casino. Carol also enjoyed spending time at Hood Canal and the cabin at Clearwater. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and her good friend, Katie. Carol was a loving and caring, partner, mother and friend. When God made Carol, he broke the mold. She will be dearly missed. In addition to her husband, Tom, Carol is survived by her five children, Suzi and (Chuck) Wertz, Aberdeen, Kristine and (Don) Brule, Montesano, Thomas and (Sandra) Berglund, Medical Lake, Washington, Patti Ambrose and (Doug Sample), Olympia and Peggy Chapman and (Jeff Lenherr) of Elma. She is also survived by her close cousin, Sister Peggy Dawson of Minnesota, seventeen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents. The family suggests in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the East Grays Harbor Cancer Fund P.O. Box 519 Elma, WA 98541.
