Mrs. Madeline (Ciufo) Garofalo, 87, of Whitesboro, entered into eternal life on Tuesday, November 29, 2011, at the Faxton- St. Luke''s Healthcare Center. She was born in February 15, 1924 in Tufo, Italy, the daughter of the late Frank and Maria Ciufo. After graduating from high school, Madeline received a business degree from the Utica School of Commerce. On February 14, 1942, she married Vito Garofalo in St. Anthony of Padua Church, a blessed union of 69 years. Madeline was a clerk typist in the purchasing department at Utica City Hall for 37 years. She is survived by her husband, Vito; her son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Valerie Garofalo, Whitesboro; a sister, Virginia Tucciarone, Utica; a brother-in-law, John Circelli, Utica; three grandchildren, Lisa Garofalo, Thomas Garofalo and Brenda Towner, and Gary and Tracy Garofalo; two great-grandchildren, Aden and Owen; and several nieces and nephews. Madeline was predeceased by three sisters, Cora Rasile, Josephine Mallozzi and Frances Circelli. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Mass of Christian Burial which will be held on Thursday at 4 p.m. at St. Anthony and St. Agnes Church, celebrated by Rev. Anthony LaFache. Calling hours will be prior to Mass from 2 to 4 p.m. at St. Anthony and St. Agnes Church. Private interment will take place at Calvary Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the guidance of Bentz & Amodio Funeral Service, Inc., 470 French Rd., Utica/New Hartford.
