Mrs. Linnie M. Abernathy, age 88, of Jasper, AL & formerly of Cedartown, passed away on Friday, November 12, 2010. Mrs. Abernathy was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis & Florence Coalson Norris; her husband, Dewell E. Abernathy; her daughter, Elizabeth C. Abernathy; a brother, Bill Norris & a sister, Vera Colombo.

Mrs. Abernathy lived a very full life and was loved by her friends & family, working hard to be there for them when they needed her. She loved her church & church family and was very active as a member. She lived through the "Great Depression" era and worked as an electric welder during World War II. Mrs. Abernathy enjoyed a very interesting life & will be sorely missed by many.

She is survived by her daughter & son in law, Jo Lynn & Larry Higgins; her son & daughter in law, Malcolm & Annie Abernathy of Bethel Springs, TN; her sister, Loval Clemons Davis of Rockmart; her sister in law, June Norris of Cedartown; her sister in law & brother in law, Ruth & Arlis Talley of Centre, AL and her grandchildren, Sean Abernathy, Brennan Abernathy, Elizabeth Higgins, Jonathan Higgins & Joseph Higgins. A number of nieces & nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Linnie M. Abernathy will be conducted on Monday, November 15, 2010 at 12 noon CST from the Providence Baptist Church in Centre, AL. Interment will follow in the Providence Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 14, 2010 from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. CST at the Collins-Burke Funeral Home in Jasper, AL.
