Centralia

Granville S. Roberts

Granville S. Roberts, was born May 16, 1872 in Doniphan county, Kansas. He was married to Miss Dora Ellen Jacoilet April 26, 1899. To this family came six children, two of whom have passed away. The living children are Earl G. Roberts, Centralia; twin sisters Mrs. Freta Fay Bullock and Mrs. Floy Fern Bullock, both of whom live at Vermillion and Mrs. Lorene Keeney, Onaga.

Mr. Roberts has lived his quiet life in Nemaha county for 45 years, 30 years of the time being on farms near Centralia. Because of ill health Mr. and Mrs. Roberts moved to Centralia eight years ago. When able, Mr. Roberts devoted much of his time to the bee industry.

He was a member of the Centralia Methodist church since the days when Rev. Troy S. Warner was pastor.

Death came to Mr. Roberts Wednesday evening as he sat in his home. Though ill for a long time, his going was a great shock to the wife, who was alone with him. The funeral was held at the Methodist church Friday afternoon with Rev. N. J. Adams giving the address. L. D. Richardson, Havensville, Earl Hightower, Miss Lola Brown and Mrs. B. L. Lohmuller sang, "The City Four Square," "Somewhere the Sun is Shining" and Mrs. Lohmuller and Earl Hightower sang, "In the Garden." The pallbearers were Messrs. Marion Noland, Wm. Hoskins, Walter Smith, Frank Mentha, Sam Beard and Ernest Spickelmeier.

Other relatives aside from the wife, children and grandchildren are a brother, Austin, and a sister, Mrs. Minnie McMickell. Half brothers are Onbey Roberts, John Roberts, North Platte, Neb.; half-sisters, Miss Maude Roberts and Mrs. Pearl Selby, Atchison; Mrs. May Pruitt, Haywarden, Iowa and Mrs. Mary J. Bedker, North Platte, Neb.
