Laurie was born Oct. 22, 1932, in Norwich, to Bruce Madison and Betty Ann (Peyton) Laurie. He served with the United States Air Force from 1954 to 1958.
On Aug. 7, 1966, he married Evelyn Delorse Boulanger in Grenola.
Laurie was employed by the road departments of Elk and Cowley counties for 18 years.
He was a former member of the Odd Fellows Lodge of Grenola and had served 18 years as a board member of Rural Water District 1 in Elk County. He was a longtime member of the Grenola Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Laurie, Grenola; two sons, Donnie Laurie, Mulvane, and Martin Laurie, Grenola; two daughters, Karen Clubb and Betty Laurie, both of Moline; a brother, Milton Laurie, Rome, Ga.; and three sisters, Wanda Gould, Derby, Nona Reep, Winfield, and Kathryn Richards, Anchorage, Alaska.
